Edward Ridge

MA (Hons) BA Arch Dip.Arch RIBA

Before founding Hoare Ridge & Morris, Ted worked for architects and urban design practice 5th Studio in London and Cambridge. His previous experience includes a radical low-carbon refurbishment of Grade I listed buildings at Trinity College Cambridge, a low cost sports facility next to the Olympic Park for Hackney Borough Council and a wide range of residential work in both urban and rural settings – including alterations to listed buildings and a Passivhaus housing project.

Ted’s experience includes an interest in the ways existing buildings are adapted to modern requirements, and how intelligent alterations can improve energy efficiency to the benefit of both building and occupier. He enjoys exploring how new work engages with and develops existing architectural language.

Ted read Philosophy and Theology at Edinburgh before training as an architect. He studied at London Metropolitan University and qualified at the University of Cambridge. A thoughtful designer and careful in detailing and project delivery, he takes a particular delight in the tactile qualities of buildings, how the careful use of materials affects the experience of architecture.
